For more than three decades, Dr. Turner has worked tirelessly to champion civil rights for African-Americans. His commitment to ensuring equal educational opportunity for all is unparalleled.
Dr. Turner joined the University of Virginia in 1988 as Dean of African-American Affairs, a position in which he served for almost two decades. He also served the local community as Immediate Past-President of the Albemarle-Charlottesville NAACP, a position he held for 12 years.
