As Special Assistant United States Attorney based in Charlottesville, I helped prosecute a broad of criminal offenses, including crimes against children, financial services fraud, computer crimes, public corruption, witness tampering, murder for hire, and obstruction of justice. In addition to prosecuting federal law, I prosecuted violations of Virginia law in federal lands located within the Western District of Virginia. As a federal prosecutor, I was trained to respect the integrity of the criminal justice system, and to adhere strictly to the constitutional rights of criminal defendants. I will bring a commitment to be fair and tough to the Albemarle Commonwealth's Attorney's Office. After graduating from law school in 1999, I served as Counsel, Chief Legislative and Parliamentarian to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary. In this position, I drafted and helped secure passage of key initiatives, including child protection, criminal justice reform, and national security legislation. As Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Department of Justice, I supervised a team of lawyers in advancing the interests of the Department securing passage of key child protection and national security legislation. My commitment to public service, prosecutorial and leadership experience will supplement the experienced lawyers and staff of the Albemarle Commonwealth's Attorney's Office.
